TAIWAN – Cuban right-hander Alejandro Prieto recorded the fastest pitch at the 2019 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup with a 123 km/h (76.4 mph) fastball in a victory against Mexico in the Super Round on Thursday.
The electrifying fastball created a buzz across media outlets, including Yahoo Japan, the nation’s biggest media portal. The top starting pitchers at the U-12 Baseball World Cup have been tossing fastballs ranging between 110 to 120 km/h.
Prieto’s fastball surpassed Sakumi Aoki of Samurai Japan, who registered a 122 km/h pitch earlier in the day against Venezuela.
